ALLAN CLYDE HIGGINS Allan Clyde Higgins, 79, of Lorida, FL, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Highlands Regional Hospital with his wife and children at his side. Allan was born May 5, 1931 in Burlington Flats, New York to Minerva and Raymond Higgins. He graduated from Edmeston Central School where he was active in all sports, including baseball, which he continued after high school as a catcher in the Cooperstown minor baseball league. He and his father were active dairy farmers, running Dunga Brook Farm, which had been in the Higgins family for over 150 years, and served as a member of the Dairymans League Cooperative. He also was a member of the Edmeston Central School Board for 16 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington Flats. Upon moving to Lorida, he served as treasurer of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the services and congregation until his death. He loved his family, taking care of animals, working the land, and his recent passions included researching genealogy of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Connie; children, Debra, Karen, Sandra and Jeff; grandchild, John and great-grandchild, Johnny. Other survivors include his sister, Margie; brother, Carl and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church in Spring Lake.
