Alfred E. Overslaugh

April 15, 1931 — July 27, 2016

Alfred Edward Overslaugh, 85, passed away peacefully at Highlands Regional Hospital on Wednesday (July 27, 2016) with his loving wife, Evelyn, at his side.

There will be no funeral services at this time.   A memorial service is planned for November.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of Clifton Springs, NY.

Al was born April 15, 1931, at home, in Oaks Corners, NY to Lester and Dora Overslaugh.  He graduated from Phelps High School in 1948. Alfred served in the United States Marine Corp.  Alfred married Evelyn Ford in 1953 and raised a family in Clifton Springs, where he was an active member of the volunteer fire department and the United Methodist Church.   Al had a variety of jobs in his life, but most enjoyed driving school bus for the Clifton Springs School district and working in the engineering department at Elston Electronics.  Al’s passions in life included square dance calling, round dance cueing and fishing.  As an avid fisherman, Alfred chose to retire in Sebring, Florida.   His home was located on Lake Istokpoga where he fished to his heart’s content and was often heard swapping fishing tales with his neighbors.

Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn, and his children Terry Overslaugh Ford of Miami Florida, Keith (Terry) Overslaugh of Winchester, KY and Amy (Marco) Garcia of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Kevin Richard.
