ALFRED J. KLINGER Our family chain has been broken, our strongest link has finished his journey and gone into the arms of God. Alfred J. Klinger, 77, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away February 13, 2013. He was born January 29, 1936 in Detroit, MI and later moved to Northwest Indiana to be with the love of his life and soul mate, Patricia Ann, whom he was married to for 57 years. Also surviving are five children, Sharon (Larry) Diangikis, Koontz Lake, IN; Alfred (Eileen) Klinger, Valparaiso, IN; Christine (Scott) Crafton, Westville, IN; Linda (Gary) Smock, Ormond Beach, FL and Patrick Klinger; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Peter (Arlene); Billy (Sharon) and Michael Klinger and one sister, Linda (George) Wayne, all of Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews. Alfred was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy; his great-granddaughter, Emma Jean; sisters, Patricia Camaiore and Donna Loomis; three nephews, Mike; Jeff and Ricky and a niece, Debbie. Alfred was loved by many and he was a committed member of his community, involved in many clubs and organizations, including Sons of American Legion Commander for 2 ½ years in Avon Park, FL. Alfred was a dedicated member of his church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL and also at St. Mary's Parrish Otis, IN. Alfred held different offices, volunteered his time and served the Lord. He enjoyed traveling, working in his flower gardens, doing crossword puzzles, reading and planning events for his family and community. He was an avid fan of all of his grandchildren's sporting events and loved all sports, but most favorably Notre Dame Football, where he served as an Usher in South Bend, IN for many years. Honoring his wishes, he was cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL on Monday, February 18, 2013, at 12:00 Noon, with Father Nick officiating.
