Alberta G. Dubisz

February 28, 1927 — November 16, 2013

Alberta Minni Dubisz, age 86, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in Sebring, FL. She was born on February 28, 1927 in Knox, NY to Albert and Elizabeth Gibbs. She joined Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) in 1952, and after receiving as Masters in Nursing, she sailed to Africa where she began serving the Lord as a Missionary in a clinic in the country of Benin. While in Africa, she met a fellow SIM missionary, Edwin Dubisz and they were married in 1960. They raised their family and served the Lord in Burkina Faso in West Africa, doing evangelism and church planting along with primary healthcare and prevention programs for blindness and disease such as malaria. In 1992, after almost forty years of service for the Lord, they retired to the SIM Retirement Village in Sebring, FL. Alberta is survived by her husband, Edwin Dubisz, one daughter, Doris Selle (of Mentor, OH), and two sons, John (of Bellingham, WA), and Frank Dubisz (of Glendora, CA), along with six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Gibbs, and three brothers, Donald, Floyd, and Alan Gibbs. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the SIM Retirement Village Chapel in Sebring, FL.
