Albert Byron Newberry, age 81, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 in Sebring, Florida from Asbestos Exposure. Mr. Newberry was born in Medulla, Florida to James Albert and Eva Mae (Hicks) Newberry. He was the Owner/Operator of Cyclone Pump and Welding of Avon Park, Director of Peace River Electric for 23 years and Director of Florida Electric in Tallahassee, Florida for 15 years; he was a member and music director of New Life Baptist Church in Ft. Meade, Florida for many years, he attended schools in Medulla and Mulberry, Florida, he loved to fish and hunt, he worked in the Phosphate Mines as a Welder; he served in the United States Army during the Korean War and had been a resident of Ft. Meade since 1970 coming from Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Newberry is survived by his wife of 52 years-Marjorie B. Newberry; sisters-JoAnn Still (Tom) of Lakeland, Florida and Teresa Bridges (Cecil) of Lakeland, Florida; brothers-Van Newberry (Judy) of Winter Haven, Florida, Von Newberry (Joy) of Lakeland, Florida and Frank Newberry (Rita) of Lakeland, Florida; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Newberry was preceded in death by his parents, sons-Steven and Jamie Newberry, brothers-Joe, Leslie and Gilbert Newberry. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida with Rev. Joe Parrish and Missionary Robert Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
