Aaron H. Perkins

Aaron H. Perkins, age 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021.  He was born September 9, 1937, in Fortville, Indiana to Kenneth L. and Vivian G. (Eliason) Perkins.  He and his wife Judy Hackler were married on July 1, 1967.   The day before his passing, Aaron and Judy celebrated 54 years of marriage.  Aaron began a career in law enforcement in Indiana with the Elwood Police Department moving to the Madison County Indiana Sherriff's Department where he served as a sheriff's deputy, a Detective Sergeant of Homicide and Deputy Coroner.  Aaron worked 25 years for St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, retiring as the Director of Safety and Security.  Aaron held black belts in both Judo and Jujitsu. He was a Mason and belonged to Quincy Lodge 230 in Elwood, Indiana.  Aaron was heavily involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 13 years, serving for a period as scoutmaster of Elwood Troop 375.  Aaron was a Master Woodcarver and an active member of the Highland Woodcarving Club.  He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and has been a resident of Sebring, Florida since 2004 relocating from Elwood, Indiana.  He is survived by his wife Judy Perkins of Sebring, Florida; Children - Brian Perkins of Sebring, Florida; Darcy Carlson of Knox, Indiana; Matthew Perkins of Indianapolis, Indiana; and 7 grandchildren; - Zach, Alex, Jhenna, Cassidy, A.J., Savannah, & Ethan. An informal Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held in Elwood, Indiana at Lucky Strike Lanes at 1904 S. Anderson St on Sunday August 1, 2021 from 2-5 PM (EST). A second Celebration of Life will be held at St. John United Methodist Church at 33631 Grand Prix Dr. Sebring, Florida on September 4, 2021 at 11:00am.
