John Richard Gorton

John Richard Gorton age 74, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 17, 2020. He was born on August 25, 1945 in Taberg, New York to Phillip William Gorton and Veva Mae Bickford. John is survived by sons: Mark Gorton of Longview, Texas, Jason Gorton of Buffalo New York; daughter: Lisa(Jessie) Vega of Sebring, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Patricia DeVelder of Frostproof, Florida, Linda Gorton of Ilion, New York, Cheryl(Jim) Steier of Redwood, New York, Lillian(Tom) Breemes of Stafford, New York; brothers: Thomas Gorton of Avon Park, Florida, David Race of  Corning, New York, Daniel( Pearl) Race of Henderson, New York, Donald Race of Le Roy , New York; brother in law: Thomas Hayes of Caledonia, New York;  sisters-in-law: Barbara R. Gorton of LeRoy, New York, and Barbara J. Gorton of Webster, New York, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents: Phillip and Veva Gorton; sisters: Phyllis Gorton Wilt, Sue Race Hayes; brothers: William (Bill) Gorton, Jerry (Mike) Gorton. John’s hobbies were Golfing, Motocross, collecting and watching sports, he was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Marines and his beloved dog JLO. John would help anyone, and he will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Services will be held later.
